This certification builds on a private pilot certification and allows you to fly into clouds and low visibility environments while only using flight instruments.

You’ll learn about how the instruments operate and how to fly the plane in both simulated and actual instrument conditions, weather, rules, and planning.

Typical Timelines

Before beginning this rating, you will have completed the private pilot certification. By the time you complete this training, you will typically have accrued an additional 50 hours of flight time over the span of 2 to 4 months.
